HOW IT WORKS
From first conversation to funded.

Kalen Rhodes, Grant Writer • Grant Consultant • Western North Carolina • Brevard, NC

Every engagement with Grant Partners starts the same way — with an honest conversation about where you are, where you want to go, and what it will actually take to get there. No pitch, no pressure. Just clarity about your organization’s funding landscape and what’s possible.

1

Discovery call

We talk through your mission, programs, funding history, and goals. No charge, no commitment. Kalen asks honest questions and gives honest answers — including whether this engagement makes sense right now.

Most organizations come away from this call with a clearer picture of their funding landscape than they had going in, regardless of whether they move forward.

If your organization is ready to move forward, Kalen proposes a scope of work tailored to where you are, whether that’s a grant readiness review, prospect research, a single grant application, or ongoing support through a retainer.

If you’re not quite ready, she’ll tell you exactly what needs to happen first.

2

Strategy & research

Kalen takes a deep dive into your mission, programs, and funding needs. Together, we develop a strong grant strategy. We ensure you are grant-ready with documents and compiled information typically requested by funders. Your grant infrastructure may be built out, including a database and calendaring system.

Kalen identifies the highest-potential funders with the strongest mission alignment and probability of award — their interests and priorities, past awards, eligibility guidelines, application process, and what would compel them to fund your organization.

She will only encourage you to invest in grant applications with a strong mission alignment and reasonable probability of award.

3

Write & refine

Kalen writes the proposal collaboratively — drawing on your team’s knowledge of the work and her expertise in compelling grant language. You review, respond, and together we refine.

The strongest grant proposals are a genuine collaboration between someone who knows the organization’s mission and programs, and someone who knows the content and language to develop compelling and competitive grants.

4

Submit & steward

On-time, complete submission — Kalen navigates the funder portal, uploads the narrative and attachments, and supports you with any grantor follow-up requests.

The relationship with your funder doesn’t end at submission — that’s where the next grant begins.

After award, Kalen supports you with timely reporting that communicates meaningful outcomes and impact. Strong stewardship strengthens funder relationships and positions your organization for future funding opportunities.

Grant Writing Is Collaborative.

Kalen manages the grant process, but your organization plays an important role. Expect to spend time defining the project and budget, answering questions, providing key information, and reviewing the proposal.

The time commitment varies by grant, but your involvement matters. The better Kalen understands your organization and the work you want to fund, the more accurate and compelling the application can be.
